Crafting the Summer Away

The summer is definitely gone. I had my first day of school today, and while that was full of adventure I really wanted to post about my craft/projects this summer.

After my internship ended I had two weeks of "free time." It was really nice because I things done in the yard (mainly mulching) and was able to come inside when it got too hot and play with my sewing machine.

I made a purse/tote... and it's really cute. Steven is still making fun of me because it's big... but it's wonderful for school (as I discovered today). I got the inspiration while in Colorado. I found a really cute purse in one of the shops... but I would have used the rest of my free spending money to get it. So when we got back I went to a neat little place here in town (Lone Star Quiltworks) and got all the supplies to make it for cheaper than it would have cost me to purchase it in Colorado. In addition, I added a really handy water bottle holder. I need to add a pocket for keys and phones, because they sink to the bottom and are hard to get to when you need them... but I will get to that later. Here is a picture.

I also made a bible cover for my quiet time bible. A few weeks ago I started a new bibles study method. It's called the Color Study system and you can probably figure out what that means. You basically color different parts of the passage according to what you think they are referring to. Here is the color guide...

Yellow: The character of God, the glory of God, coming of Christ
Green: The grace of God, all salvation verses
Red: The death, cross, blood, suffering of Christ
Blue: The person and work of the Holy Spirit
Brown: Judgment, temptation and sin
Purple: Prayer, promises, commands, examples and instructions
Orange: The Word, Scriptures, anything referring to the Word

So I made a bible cover that could hold the 7 different colors. I used a bible that we had in the back room that no one had opened so it was perfect for coloring. It's been working out great and I think it's really cute.

  2. Do you know of any online resources for color-study? It looks less complicated than the inductive method I've been using.

  3. I haven't found the color study system online tha I like. However, I can make a copy of mine for you. I got it at a FaithWalkers Conference about three years ago.
